POSITION OBJECTIVE:

The Middleware Software Development Specialist is responsible for the upkeep and support of core business applications. This role involves analyzing, developing, testing, implementing, and documenting modifications to these systems, thereby enhancing the organization's capability to meet its objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide ongoing maintenance and support for COBOL-based applications (MSC & EWM) running on Micro Focus Enterprise Server.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues within the application stack, including Micro Focus runtime, CICS Gateway, MQ Series, JCL, CICS, Stored Procedures, and IBM DB2 UDB.
  • Collaborate closely with development teams to identify and rectify application defects and performance challenges.
  • Monitor application performance and proactively pinpoint areas for enhancement.
  • Work in conjunction with infrastructure teams to ensure optimal operation of the application environment and resource utilization.
  • Oversee integration with Control-M scheduler for job scheduling and monitoring tasks.
  • Manage and update security protocols using Open-LDAP (Micro Focus External Security Manager) for Micro Focus resource access.
  • Utilize Jenkins for application builds and deployment processes.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in maintaining and supporting COBOL-based applications on distributed platforms (Micro Focus Enterprise Product Suite on Linux).
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to address complex issues within the application stack (Micro Focus).
  • Proficient in working with CICS Gateway, MQ Series, JCL, CICS, Stored Procedures, and IBM DB2 UDB.
  • Experience with Control-M scheduler for effective job scheduling and monitoring.
  • Knowledge of Open-LDAP (Micro Focus External Security Manager) for securing Micro Focus resources.
  • Familiarity with Jenkins for application builds and deployment activities.
