Software Architect Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Architect to join our team at Scotiabank. As a key player in architecting the future technology roadmap for our Payments domain, you will work closely with product partners, business, and other Scotia Digital technology teams to provide scalable technology architecture that aligns with International Banking.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain architectural designs and frameworks for software applications, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to development teams, fostering best practices in coding, testing, and deployment.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements, translating them into architectural solutions.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive architectural documentation, including diagrams, specifications, and design patterns.
  • Conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to architectural standards and best practices.
  • Work closely with project managers, product owners, and other teams to ensure alignment with business goals and technical feasibility.
  • Address and troubleshoot architectural and technical challenges, providing innovative solutions.
Requirements:
  • 10+ years of IT experience with clear progression through various roles, leading with at least 3 years of experience providing hands-on architectural design for software applications.
  • Strong understanding of frontend development, specifically microapp design patterns.
  • Bachelor (equivalent or higher) degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Practical experience in addressing data management challenges as part of architecture solution development.
  • Hands-on experience in Microservices design, Event-driven architecture, ETL, and data solutions, and System resiliency engineering.
  • Experience in Agile, DevOps, and iterative software development.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills with the ability to build and foster relationships with business partners, project stakeholders, strategic technology partners, and external vendors.
  • Must be flexible and ready to adapt to a dynamic environment.
