Location: Regina Head Office
Position Overview:
The Investment Analyst is responsible for overseeing corporate cash management, credit oversight, and the analysis of investment portfolios. This role involves monitoring the performance of investments and serving as the primary liaison for Investment Managers and Consultants. The analyst will support senior personnel in preparing materials and reports for executive management and the Board of Directors. Additionally, the role includes researching economic trends and identifying investment opportunities while providing financial planning and analysis for daily treasury operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Investment Oversight
- Evaluate investment manager performance metrics and present recommendations to management and the board regarding the investment portfolio.
- Establish and nurture robust relationships with investment managers, consultants, and custodians.
- Assist in the oversight of external investment managers by gathering and analyzing both quantitative and qualitative performance data.
- Promote a proactive approach to managing market risk exposures by developing and maintaining models that assess and provide insights on asset allocations.
- Contribute to the annual review of the Statement of Investment Policies and Goals, suggesting necessary revisions.
- Support compliance reporting to senior management and the Board of Directors.
- Provide evaluations on market risks associated with the balance sheet.
Cash Management, Banking & Insurance
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with commercial banking institutions.
- Monitor and report on cash management activities, including cash forecasting and management of operational accounts.
- Coordinate with banking personnel for fund transfers related to lines of credit, investment portfolios, and other corporate accounts as required.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders regarding corporate insurance inquiries, respond to questions about insurance needs, review and analyze insurance products, and assist in the renewal process.
Qualifications:
A post-secondary degree in Business Administration/Commerce or a related field, along with a finance designation (CFA or equivalent) is required. Candidates lacking the finance designation will not be considered.
At least four years of experience in accounting or finance, demonstrating the following competencies:
- Comprehensive understanding of investment principles, financial markets, and portfolio management.
- Familiarity with banking operations.
- Experience with online accounting systems such as Oracle Financials.
- Proficient in Excel.
- Ability to make informed decisions and work autonomously with minimal supervision.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
