Your Responsibilities

The Player Expression team for Fortnite is dedicated to providing our players with a remarkable variety of appearances and styles to express their individuality and interests. We are seeking a Lead Programmer who is enthusiastic about game development and nurturing talent. You will guide a team of highly skilled engineers who are redefining customization and player choice throughout the Fortnite universe - from characters to vehicles to entirely new experiences.

In this position, you will
  • Oversee a team of 5+ engineers focused on gameplay-related systems that enhance cosmetic customization and player expression.
  • Support your team through mentorship, removing obstacles, code evaluations, and fostering a positive, learning-oriented environment.
  • Collaborate closely with production and technical leadership to balance the introduction of new features with long-term sustainability.
  • Establish connections with related teams including art, performance, animation technology, and automation.
  • Champion the player experience, ensuring the preservation and enhancement of the cosmetic library available to players.
What We Seek
  • Prior experience and a strong desire to lead and develop a team of developers.
  • Proficient C++ skills and a solid understanding of programming principles.
  • A passion for gaming with a focus on visual yet gameplay-related areas.
  • Aptitude for constructing robust, extensible, and maintainable systems.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to communicate fluently in English (both written and verbal).
  • Experience with Unreal Engine development is preferred but not mandatory.
