Position Overview

The Department of Pediatrics at McMaster University is actively seeking two full-time academic physicians to enhance the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology. We are looking for one candidate at the Assistant Professor level and another at the Associate or Full Professor level. The Division is composed of a dedicated team of pediatric endocrinologists and a comprehensive interprofessional group including nursing, nutrition, social work, child life, exercise physiology, kinesiology, and psychology.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidates will play a pivotal role in advancing the division's and department's objectives in clinical care, educational innovation, and research initiatives. Responsibilities will encompass:

  • Conducting clinics focused on General Endocrine and Transgender Medicine, Diabetes, and Weight Management.
  • Participating in inpatient services and after-hours on-call duties.
  • Engaging in educational responsibilities related to the pediatric endocrinology residency training program and other learners.
Educational Contributions

The candidates will be responsible for:

  • Leading academic half-day teaching sessions.
  • Facilitating Problem-Based Learning (PBL) sessions.
  • Providing academic coaching and learner assessments.
  • Developing and executing remediation plans.
  • Presenting at divisional and departmental rounds.

Our pediatric endocrinology residency program is accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons and typically hosts around four trainees annually.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess certification (or be eligible for certification) from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, along with demonstrated experience and recognized training in Pediatric Endocrinology. Licensure (or eligibility for licensure) in Ontario is required. A relevant graduate degree at the Master's or PhD level is considered an asset.
