Cybersecurity Expert Wanted

T-Net British Columbia is seeking a highly skilled Cybersecurity Expert to join our team.

Job Overview

We are looking for a talented individual to conduct cybersecurity security reviews, risk, and compliance activities within our Technology department.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct security and compliance impact assessments for technology or corporate initiatives, documenting threats, identifying risks, and recommending controls.
  2. Perform security and compliance reviews of internal and external security measures for information systems, identifying risks and potential vulnerabilities.
  3. Ensure that risk assessments, vulnerability assessments, and threat analyses are conducted periodically to identify cybersecurity risks.
  4. Determine appropriate risk treatment options to manage risks to acceptable levels.
  5. Maintain knowledge of current cyber threats and applicable policies and procedures.
  6. Lead and coordinate third-party penetration testing activities.
  7. Conduct internal penetration testing using various security tools.
  8. Conduct vulnerability assessment reviews and perform vulnerability scans as required.
  9. Lead and coordinate third-party vendor risk assessments, ensuring compliance with security and regulatory standards.
  10. Monitor existing risks to ensure changes are identified and managed appropriately.
  11. Analyze security controls when reviewing Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs).
  12. Improve regulatory compliance by consulting with appropriate regulatory SMEs when required.
  13. Participate as Technology security SME on projects or initiatives to improve BC Hydro's cybersecurity posture.
  14. Participate or coordinate responses to various internal and external cybersecurity audits when required.

Requirements:

  1. University degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Ability to obtain security clearance for a Security Sensitive Position classification.
  3. Minimum of 7 years of experience in IT/OT technology, cybersecurity, and/or audit-related work.
  4. Experience in system security, application security, network security, risk management, and IT security monitoring.
  5. Knowledge of industry standards such as ISO 270001/2, NIST, COBIT5, etc.
  6. Experience in project management and task coordination.
  7. Knowledge or experience in NERC CIP standards is an asset.
  8. Excellent presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical matters to a non-technical audience.
  9. Strong interpersonal and documentation skills.
  10. Team player with good time-management and organizational skills.
  11. Flexibility to adjust quickly to multiple demands and shifting priorities.

Cybersecurity certification (e.g., CISSP, GSEC, GCIA) is an asset. Experience in Industrial Control Systems (ICS) including SCADA and other Operational Technology (OT) used in the Energy sector is also an asset.

Please note this is a hybrid position with expectations to work in our office in Vancouver, BC for a minimum of 2 days per week.
