About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Early Childhood Educator to join our team at Chemainus Community Schools Association. As an Early Childhood Educator, you will play a vital role in supporting the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children in our care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development: Develop and implement child-care programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
  • Storytelling and Engagement: Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest.
  • Record Keeping: Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records of children's progress and development.
  • Child Guidance: Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
  • Snack Preparation: Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods.
  • Observation and Reporting: Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors.
  • Staff Meetings: Discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings and attend meetings to stay updated on children's development.
  • Activity Planning: Plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Work Setting: Child care centre, kindergarten, before and after school programs, and elementary school.
  • Security and Safety: Criminal record check and immunization records.
  • Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Repetitive tasks, attention to detail, combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, and kneeling.
  • Experience: 1 to less than 7 months of experience.
  • Health Benefits: Dental plan, health care plan, vision care benefits, and permanent employment.
  • Language: English.
  • Hours of Work: 33 hours per week.
