The Pet Valu family encompasses various brands including Pet Valu, Paulmac's Pet Food, Bosley's, Tisol, and Total Pet, collectively forming one of the largest retail operations in North America dedicated to supplying families with essential products for dogs, cats, companion birds, wild birds, fish, reptiles, and small animals.

Position Overview:

As a Retail Store Leader, you will mentor and develop your store team to provide exceptional service to all customers, assisting Pet Parents in selecting the right nutrition and solutions for their pets. You will join a team of dedicated Pet Experts and relish the rewards of aiding Pet Parents daily. Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all customer service standards are upheld by staff; foster positive relationships within the community (e.g., Humane Society)
  • Oversee a team of employees, including recruiting, scheduling, training, daily task assignments, supervision, and coaching
  • Ensure compliance with corporate operational standards and procedures by all staff
  • Manage order placements, maintain optimal inventory levels, complete store and safety audits, coordinate minor repairs, and handle various corporate paperwork
  • Lead store staff efforts to achieve targeted performance results
  • Perform additional duties and tasks as required

Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of experience in customer service and retail management
  • Passion for learning and growth within the pet care sector
  • Friendly and outgoing personality with strong customer service skills
  • Ability to work scheduled hours, including weekends and evenings
  • Reliable transportation to and from the store
  • Capability to observe and coach employees, providing feedback on sales techniques and customer service excellence
  • Skill in understanding inter-team conflicts and escalating issues when necessary
  • Familiarity with POS systems
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Experience in the industry is a plus
