Position Overview: The University of Toronto invites applications for a Sessional Lecturer position in the field of Women, Gender, and Labour Studies. This role focuses on the exploration of women's contributions and challenges within the Canadian workforce.

Course Information: The course, designated as WGS210H5, delves into various topics concerning female engagement in both public and private sectors. Key themes include the impact of education, societal perceptions, sexuality, and family dynamics on women's work experiences. Additionally, the course will address the significance of services, infrastructure, and collective bargaining.

Enrollment and Support: The anticipated enrollment for this course is approximately 100 students, with an equal number of Teaching Assistant positions available to support the instructional process.

Class Schedule: Classes are scheduled for Wednesdays from 9 AM to 11 AM.

Compensation: The salary for this position varies based on qualifications and experience, with potential earnings outlined for different ranks of Sessional Lecturers. Compensation includes vacation pay as stipulated in the collective agreement.

Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's or Ph.D. in Gender, Feminist, and/or Sexuality Studies or a closely related field. A Ph.D. is preferred, and applicants should demonstrate expertise in the subject matter relevant to the course. Previous teaching experience in a similar course is advantageous.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Preparation and delivery of course materials.
  • Development, administration, and grading of assignments, tests, and examinations.
  • Addressing student inquiries and concerns.
  • Calculating and submitting final grades.
  • Holding regular office hours for student support.
  • Supervising Teaching Assistants assigned to the course.

Additional Information: This position is governed by the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement. Preference will be given to candidates who have advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or III, as outlined in the collective agreement.
