About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Corporate Tax Lawyer to join our team at TAG HR. As a key member of our legal department, you will be responsible for providing expert tax advice to our clients and ensuring compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients on complex tax matters, including corporate reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions, international tax, transfer pricing, and planning.
  • Research and analyze tax laws, regulations, and court decisions to provide informed advice to clients.
  • Draft and review tax documents, including tax opinions, memoranda, agreements, and returns.
  • Collaborate with lawyers, accountants, and other advisors to address client tax concerns and develop effective tax strategies.
  • Represent clients in tax audits, appeals, and resolution negotiations.
  • Train and mentor junior lawyers and support staff on tax matters and professional development.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience practicing corporate tax law in a law firm or corporate legal department.
  • Bachelor or Juris Doctor degree in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
  • Thorough understanding of Canadian tax and corporate taxation laws.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to articulate complex tax concepts and work collaboratively with clients and colleagues.
  • Proven record of providing strategic tax advice and innovative planning.
