Job Title: Lead Environment Artist

Electronic Arts is seeking an experienced Lead Environment Artist to join our team. As a key member of our art team, you will be responsible for leading a team of environment artists to deliver high-quality environments for our games.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Art Directors to develop and implement environment art strategies that align with the game's vision and goals.
  • Lead a team of environment artists to deliver high-quality environments on time and within budget.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the game's art style and ensure consistency across all environments.
  • Work closely with project managers to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and allocate resources effectively.
  • Provide guidance, feedback, and mentorship to team members to help them grow and develop their skills.
  • Refine and review environments delivered from external sources to ensure they meet our quality standards.
  • Collaborate with leads across disciplines to create environments that meet both artistic and technical requirements.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to team members to ensure efficient use of resources and promote a sense of ownership.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including usability partners, to ensure a consistent vision and message.
Qualifications:
  • At least 3+ years of experience leading an environment art team.
  • Shipped 1 or more AAA games on multiple platforms.
  • Strong artistic eye with the ability to get the best out of artists through feedback and support.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a propensity for building relationships across seniority levels.
  • Good backlog and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage deadlines effectively.
  • Experience with environment art workflows, including asset placement and production, level creation, photogrammetry, and PBR texturing.
  • Deep understanding of architecture and nature, with a solid grasp of aesthetics and function vs. form relationships.
  • Proficient knowledge of Maya, Substance Painter, and/or other 2D/3D software packages.
  • Ability to manage the team's workload through planning and delegation, with a focus on promoting a sense of ownership and autonomy.
