The role of the Maintenance Manager is to lead a 40-member maintenance team comprising skilled tradespeople and support staff. This team is tasked with the upkeep of all machinery, facilities, and grounds at the Innisfail manufacturing site. The Maintenance Manager will focus on ensuring safety within the department, managing the maintenance budget, and sustaining the existing AC&R program to achieve optimal uptime for continuous production lines.
Key Responsibilities:
Establish objectives for department staff to create a zero-incident safety culture. Assist in the development and management of budgets for maintenance supplies and labor. Effectively implement preventative and predictive maintenance strategies to enhance asset longevity and reliability. Encourage the use of failure analysis techniques to minimize equipment downtime and achieve top-tier line uptime. Supervise the MRO storeroom operations. Oversee multiple capital projects related to safety, asset upgrades, and productivity enhancements, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets. Uphold and promote effective housekeeping practices and methodologies. Inspire high performance within the team through clear goal setting and performance evaluation. Identify major equipment repair and replacement needs, focusing on efficiency, cost-effectiveness, environmental responsibility, and safety improvements. Collaborate with Human Resources to recruit skilled maintenance personnel to maintain a high-performing team and ensure consistent HR policy application. Facilitate training and lead initiatives for team-based process and equipment enhancements. Work alongside Production and Process Departments to support predictive maintenance efforts, reduce downtime and waste, and provide updates on production equipment status to the Production Manager.Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or a Journeyman Electrician/Millwright certification, or equivalent experience. A minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience in an industrial setting, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role. Proven managerial experience, including performance accountability, hiring, and disciplinary actions. Familiarity with maintenance processes and systems in a manufacturing context. Ability to develop and adhere to effective work processes and systems. Strong leadership capabilities with a track record of driving sustainable change. Demonstrated project management expertise. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Proven ability to prioritize and address safety and process-related requests. Strong analytical skills with a focus on quality improvement. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
