A diploma in Community Social Services, such as a Mental Health Worker, Community Health Worker, or Social Services Worker, along with post-secondary education in counseling skills training is required. Familiarity with relevant legislation, including the Mental Health Act and the Guardianship Act, is essential. A comprehensive understanding of available programs, their interconnections, and their roles in community care delivery is necessary. Candidates should possess knowledge of psychosocial rehabilitation principles, utilizing a client-centered approach. A minimum of two years of recent experience working with individuals experiencing mental health challenges, including life skills education, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is required. A current Level C Basic Life Saving Certificate and a valid Class 5 vehicle license are mandatory. A Food Safe Certificate is also required.
Skills and Abilities- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with clients, facilitating their understanding of their conditions and the rehabilitation process.
- Effective collaboration as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in employing behavior management techniques.
- Sound judgment in alignment with program philosophy, particularly when supervisory consultation is unavailable.
- A valid BC Driver's License is required, with the ability to obtain a Class 4 Driver's License if necessary.
- Physical capability to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
- Competence in operating relevant equipment.
