Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Coordinator to join our team at BWX Technologies. The successful candidate will be responsible for the accurate calculation and timely preparation of payrolls in a unionized, multi-provincial pay environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Payroll Preparation (Unionized Employees)
    • Ensure all employee transaction forms for pay changes in the period have been received and are properly approved prior to submitting pay for processing.
    • Enter master file changes (e.g. banking information, employer rates and codes, employee deductions, garnishees and tax information).
    • Calculate final pay for terminating employees including vacation pay, banked overtime and severance pay.
    • Prepare wire transfer and proforma to ensure funding to outsource payroll provider and correct G/L account distribution of the payroll funding.
  • Journal Entry Preparation
    • Load journal entry file received from payroll provider to SAP. Review accuracy of automated journal entry file and correct with supporting documentation any entries that require reallocations prior to loading to G/L.
    • Prepare detail for general accounting transfers to other entities regarding expatriate employees.
  • Remittances
    • Prepare reports and proformas for payment of union dues, Boilermakers local, Health & Welfare payments.
Requirements
  • Graduate of Certified Compliance Practitioner Certification (CPA) or Payroll Administrator Certification, or in the process of obtaining either of these.
  • Salary and hourly unionized payroll experience with a minimum of 1 to 3 years, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Sound knowledge of government regulations including CRA and Employment Standards.
  • Experience with SAP, MS Excel and Word, and Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate.
  • Able to quickly learn and apply company policies and applicable union contracts.
Compensation

The base salary range for this position is expected to be between $58,000 and $74,000 per year. The total compensation package may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
