Job Title: Summer Communications Intern

AltaLink is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Summer Communications Intern to join our team. As a Summer Communications Intern, you will be responsible for assisting in the planning and implementation of internal and external communications strategies to promote AltaLink's reputation with all of our audiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the dissemination of daily news clippings, including monitoring and analyzing the daily industry news
  • Research, write, and manage content for both AltaLink's intranet and external website
  • Research, write, and edit content for the internal newsletter
  • Support community relations efforts, including building recognition for our partnerships with the non-profit sector
  • Support the management of several special events by participating in planning and execution
  • Assist with the development and execution of AltaLink's social media strategy, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn
  • Support media relations strategies as required, including updating and maintaining media lists
  • Provide support to the communications department as required

Requirements:

  • University student currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Communications program with a focus on Public Relations
  • Equivalent education and experience will be considered
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills, including solid creative writing and editing skills and the ability to translate highly technical topics into easily understood language
  • Creative thinking skills, including knowledge of trends, best practices, and upcoming technology and media
  • Knowledge of communication processes with the ability to develop a communication strategy and tactics
  • Work effectively in a team setting, including valuing the ideas of others
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and carry projects through to completion within a changing environment, both independently and as a member of a team
  • Extremely detail-oriented
  • Familiarity with content management systems, social media analytics tools, Adobe Creative Suite, SharePoint, M365 (including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and other technologies
  • Sound judgment in dealing with sensitive and/or highly confidential information
  • Proven track record of good attendance
