About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Excavation Equipment Operator to join our team at Gogo Excavating & Contracting Ltd. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for safely operating heavy machinery and equipment to support our excavation projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate Heavy Equipment: Safely operate backhoe excavators, loaders, and other heavy machinery to excavate sites and move materials.
  • Measure and Calculate: Measure distance, volume, length, and weight to ensure accurate excavation and material handling.
  • Computer-Controlled Equipment: Operate computer-controlled equipment to optimize excavation processes and ensure efficiency.
  • Material Safety: Understand the purpose, proper usage, and information found on material safety data sheets (MSDS) to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Pre-Operational Checks: Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment to ensure it is in good working condition.
  • Hydraulic Systems: Operate hydraulic pumping systems to power heavy machinery.
  • Blueprints and Specifications: Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications to understand excavation plans and requirements.
Requirements
  • Certifications: Heavy Equipment Operator Trade Certification.
  • Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in excavation or a related field.
  • Industry Experience: Industrial/commercial/institutional (ICI) construction and residential construction experience.
  • Transportation: Own transportation and willingness to travel.
  • Work Conditions: Physically demanding work environment with attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Tools and Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots, hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, and safety vest.
