Position Overview:

We are seeking a Support Worker (Part-Time) for our Indigenous Child & Youth Wellness Program at the Native Healing Centre. This role involves the development and implementation of prevention, wellness, and risk reduction initiatives that resonate culturally with the community. Responsibilities include providing individual counseling (both in-person and virtual), facilitating groups, organizing camps, and conducting workshops.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver holistic services primarily to Indigenous individuals, collaborating within a multi-disciplinary team to support emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual well-being.
  • Engage in crisis intervention, referrals, advocacy, and individual outreach counseling.
  • Facilitate cultural connections and group sessions, while managing cases and providing additional supportive services.

Qualifications:

  • A Degree in Social Work or a related field; relevant experience is considered an asset.
  • Certification in or willingness to obtain: First Aid, Food Safe, Suicide Intervention, and Conflict Resolution.
  • Ability to pass a criminal record check and meet MCFD pre-screening criteria.
  • Skills in workshop facilitation and knowledge of restorative justice and healing practices.
  • Training in mental health assessment, including depression and suicide intervention.
  • Experience in trauma-informed practices.
  • Strong ability to work independently with a focus on tasks, maintaining nonjudgmental and open-minded qualities while upholding professional boundaries.
  • Experience working with culturally diverse families and communities, demonstrating cultural sensitivity and appropriateness.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A strong commitment to confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications.

Compensation: Starting wage is $33/hr, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
