About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our team at Altair Engineering. As a key member of our software development team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex software systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop software features end-to-end, leveraging industry best practices and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Own and drive the development of software projects, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
  • Investigate and implement new technologies and tools to improve software development processes and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with technical product managers and leads to define and prioritize software development projects.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design documents, technical specifications, and user manuals.
  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure high-quality code and adherence to coding standards.
  • Investigate, debug, and resolve complex software issues, working closely with the development team and other stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in software development, with a strong focus on C/C++ application development.
  • Expert-level understanding of object-oriented design and development principles.
  • Strong expertise in diagnosing and fixing process crashes, with experience using tools like gdb, ptrace, and strace.
  • Familiarity with QNX, Linux, or other UNIX-like operating systems.
  • Experience with version control tools like GitHub, CVS, or SVN.
  • Familiarity with projection technologies such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Hybrid position with a mix of individual and team-based work.
