Job Opportunity:

Camosun College is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Dental Hygiene instructor to join our team. As a key member of our faculty, you will play a critical role in shaping the next generation of dental hygiene professionals.

About the Role:

We are looking for an instructor who is passionate about teaching and has a strong commitment to student success. The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in Dental Hygiene or a related field and significant experience in post-secondary teaching, both clinical and didactic. They will also have a strong clinical background, with at least five years of experience in dental hygiene.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach and mentor students in both lab and clinical settings
  • Develop and implement curriculum that integrates Indigenous perspectives and promotes interprofessional practice
  • Assess student learning and provide feedback
  • Participate in faculty meetings and contribute to departmental decision-making
  • Stay current with industry developments and best practices in dental hygiene education

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Dental Hygiene or a related field
  • Significant experience in post-secondary teaching, both clinical and didactic
  • At least five years of experience in dental hygiene
  • Current licensure with BCCOHP as a Dental Hygiene Practitioner
  • Current CDHA/BCDHA membership, NDHCB Certification, and Current CPR (BLS) or equivalent
  • Completion or enrollment in the Provincial Instructor's Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability and desire to integrate Indigenous perspectives into curriculum and teaching practices
  • Interprofessional practice experience
  • Experience as an independent dental hygiene practitioner and/or alternate practice setting experience
  • Experience with professional service, including leadership roles undertaken with dental hygiene organizations
  • Ability and desire to acknowledge, understand, and embrace the diversity within our community and treat others in a spirit of dignity, respect, compassion, honesty, openness, and inclusiveness
  • Willingness and ability to work non-traditional hours
