Position Overview

  • Lead the harmonization of Quality initiatives across the organization; cultivate a team of Quality experts.
  • Oversee, organize, and manage quality assurance programs aimed at ensuring the ongoing production of goods that meet established benchmarks.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, production staff, and clients to address quality issues and foster continuous enhancement of quality standards.
  • Deliver technical training and guidance to management and staff regarding the plant's product safety protocols (HACCP, SQF, Food Defense, etc.) and Lean methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish a Quality team across the organization, standardize processes, and enhance existing Quality Systems.
  • Design and uphold a closed-loop quality management system focused on minimizing process variability and ensuring compliance.
  • Set and maintain quality control goals, aligning them with production procedures in collaboration with other managers and quality professionals to optimize product reliability and reduce costs.
  • Develop and enforce product quality strategies and protocols by managing gauge requirements, frequency, accountability, and methods to ensure adherence to process and product specifications.
  • Guide, through supervisory personnel, employees involved in inspection and testing activities to guarantee quality control over raw materials and finished products.
  • Organize and promote training initiatives related to product quality and reliability.
  • Occasionally act as the point of contact for clients regarding quality concerns and represent the company at client sites alongside management and sales representatives.
  • Address, assess, and resolve client complaints.
  • Monitor and manage client feedback concerning quality.
  • Direct the activities, responsibilities, and projects of all Quality team members.
  • Implement strategies and controls to foster an effective supplier management system.
  • Collaborate with raw material suppliers on specifications and manage vendor complaints.
  • Oversee the customer specification system.
  • Manage trials for new business opportunities and create trial plans.
  • Provide oversight and guidance in the areas of plant Functional Control/Pre-Requisite programs, including pest management, operational methods, personnel practices, comprehensive Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), food defense, and facility upkeep as it pertains to product safety and cleanliness.
  • Communicate findings and implement necessary corrective measures.
  • Ensure compliance with third-party Functional Control/Pre-Requisite program requirements, including HACCP, SQF, and other client-mandated programs.
  • Conduct annual training sessions on HACCP, GMPs, food defense, and allergens.
  • Evaluate vendor performance.
  • Support the plant's Lean and 5S initiatives.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities within functional areas of responsibility.
  • Conduct Product and Process Quality Audits.
  • Review and report Continuous Improvement/Quality Metrics, and update the Voice of the Customer Board.
  • Oversee Quality Management System assessments for local facilities.
  • Uphold and enhance the company's reputation in interactions with customers, employees, suppliers, competitors, investors, and regulatory bodies, while adhering to core values: Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Business or a related Quality field; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in quality management (at a managerial, multi-site level) or equivalent experience.
  • Six Sigma experience is advantageous.
  • Possession of a power vehicle license is preferred.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage others across multiple sites.
  • Prior management or supervisory experience is essential.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and internet research.
  • Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems and the ability to create and enhance systems.
  • Experience in implementing technical testing in production settings.
  • General knowledge of printing and converting technologies is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel for training and site visits.
  • Possession of a valid passport and ability to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.
  • Visual Color Discrimination, with the ability to identify and differentiate between colors and shades.

Working Environment

  • Office and manufacturing settings across multiple locations.
  • Travel to airports, hotels, and meeting venues may be required.
