About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Governance and Compliance Professional to provide support to our Board of Directors and Board Committees. This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, supporting the governance and compliance functions of Meridian Credit Union Ltd.

Key Responsibilities
  • Meeting Coordination: Organize and attend meetings of the Board of Directors and Board Committees, ensuring seamless execution and follow-up.
  • Document Preparation: Prepare and coordinate governance documents, filings, and other materials, including agendas, resolutions, executive summaries, minutes, and annual workplans.
  • Record Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date corporate records, including the minute book, and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Board Support: Provide administrative support to the Board of Directors and Board Committees, including coordinating director evaluations, self-assessments, and education sessions.
  • Communication: Develop and maintain effective communication channels with Board members, senior management, and external stakeholders, ensuring clear and concise information exchange.
  • Research and Benchmarking: Conduct research and benchmarking to identify best practices in governance and compliance, and implement recommendations to enhance Meridian's governance framework.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: A Law Clerk certification or equivalent relevant experience in a financial institution or corporate governance environment.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Strong knowledge of laws and regulations relevant to corporate governance, including the Credit Unions and Caisses Populaires Act, 2020, and other relevant legislation.
  • Organizational and Communication Skills: Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deadlines, and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Discretion and Confidentiality: A high level of discretion when handling confidential information, and the ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the role.
