Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Bilingual Financial Controller to join our team in Montreal, QC. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for leading the accounting operations and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reports.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance and accounting, with a minimum of 6 years of experience in a similar role. You will be responsible for managing a team of accounting staff, reviewing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with revenue recognition policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end management accounting processes, delivering reports in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Review monthly contract accounting to ensure project accuracy and compliance with revenue recognition policies.
  • Oversee cash management and treasury functions, ensuring sufficient funds are available and maintaining control oversight of bank accounts.
  • Lead the preparation of internal and external audit fieldwork and schedules.
  • Improve financial reporting processes to ensure they are efficient and effective.
  • Review and improve internal controls and SOX compliance, partnering with internal audit and corporate accounting to ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Review balance sheet and P&L reconciliation(s) to meet reporting requirements.
  • Oversee the R&D Tax claim process to ensure timely submission, working closely with external accountants and senior leadership.
  • Provide essential support to the team's daily operations, facilitating a seamless workflow and efficient practices.
  • Lead and manage ad-hoc projects, demonstrating flexibility and a capacity to drive change.
  • Champion the enhancement of finance processes and tools, including the introduction of automation to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Foster the development and maintenance of robust financial controls to secure the company's assets and ensure financial integrity.
Qualifications:

Required Skills and Experiences:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance/accounting.
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
  • CPA accounting designation.
  • Ability to lead and mentor an accounting team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Solid knowledge of Balance Sheet and Income Statement.
  • Ability to manage and perform multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. French and English proficiency required.
  • Experience with Oracle SmartView is an asset.
  • Aerospace and Defense industry experience is preferred.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Government of Canada Reliability status and Secret Level 2/NATO Secret security clearance.
  • Must be eligible to meet the requirements for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
