Position Overview

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to become a part of our team at EMCO Corporation. This full-time salaried role is designed for candidates with varying levels of experience, including recent graduates. As an HVAC Project Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to deliver engineering support to our HVAC profit center teams and their clientele.

Your mission will be to secure mid-to-large scale commercial and residential projects by providing exceptional service to our stakeholders. You will leverage various design and engineering tools to develop innovative solutions and prepare comprehensive proposals. Acting as a trusted advisor to our stakeholders interested in implementing advanced HVAC technologies, you will provide detailed technical product information and HVAC system recommendations. This role offers you the freedom to work on projects that align with your interests, encouraging you to introduce new ideas, technologies, and business opportunities to enhance and expand the EMCO business line.

Key Responsibilities:

Exhibit extensive knowledge of cutting-edge HVAC products, systems, and their applications. Assist customers with technical inquiries regarding HVAC products and installations. Develop project proposals that clearly articulate the proposed solutions, pricing, and benefits. Perform heat transfer and ventilation calculations to accurately size and select HVAC systems for existing structures. Design and recommend alternative HVAC systems that enhance performance and promote long-term energy savings compared to conventional systems. Analyze engineering drawings and complete take-offs/spec conversions and bid package proposals for bid-spec projects. Utilize manufacturer design software to accurately design and select specific HVAC solutions. Conduct energy modeling for heat pump systems using tools provided by relevant authorities. Troubleshoot and devise solutions for customers when challenges arise. Cultivate and maintain effective working relationships with key vendor partners, team members, HVAC contractors, and industry stakeholders. Communicate and implement federal, provincial, and municipal energy efficiency incentive programs to stakeholders. Manage mid-to-large scale projects while effectively liaising with all involved parties. Provide unique and innovative financial solutions/models to secure significant bids. Engage with public and private industry stakeholders through trade shows, webinars, training sessions, and one-on-one meetings to explore market opportunities and generate new sales leads. Research and offer insights on new products, services, programs, and market trends to both internal and external stakeholders. Adhere to all safety regulations at customer locations and within EMCO profit centers. Work remotely or from one of our offices with occasional travel to job sites and business meetings.

Qualifications

College diploma or University degree in engineering (mechanical, civil, electrical), architecture, building science, or HVAC trades. Exceptional customer service, communication, and problem-solving abilities. Strong relationship-building skills with customers, vendors, and colleagues. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience in a fast-paced environment with a keen attention to detail. Strong work ethic and high standards of integrity. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively in a team environment. Excellent time management and organizational skills with the capability to meet tight deadlines. Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.

Preferred Skills:

Candidates with backgrounds in mechanical engineering or building science. Previous experience or knowledge of air source/ground source/water source heat pumps, ERVs/HRVs, hydronics, commercial ventilation, VRF systems, or refrigeration systems. Proficiency in Excel for data manipulation and report preparation. Experience in sales, business development, or management is considered an asset. Relevant certifications such as BCIN, HRAI HVAC design certifications, LEED, CEA, CRE, CEM, CET, CMVP are advantageous. Familiarity with Trend, Eclipse, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
