Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Assistant to join our team at the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA). As a Laboratory Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting the laboratory testing process, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of test results, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and process biological specimens, including blood, urine, and tissue samples, for analysis.
- Prepare and label specimens for testing, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
- Operate laboratory equipment, including centrifuges, microscopes, and automated analyzers.
- Perform quality control and quality assurance tasks to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols and regulations.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure efficient and effective testing processes.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to stay up-to-date on laboratory procedures and technologies.
Requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent, with completion of a recognized laboratory assistant training program.
- One year of recent experience in a laboratory setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
