Health and Safety Manager

The Health and Food Safety Manager is a critical role at Eataly North America, responsible for ensuring the highest standards of food safety, work safety, sustainability, compliance, and general sanitation across all Eataly Toronto stores. This position guarantees that the Eataly team is fully versed on and in adherence with state and local regulations as well as Eataly goals and standards.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with the Director of Culinary, Facilities Manager, Human Resources, and Store Directors to ensure proper food safety compliance, work safety, and sustainability measures.
- Conduct regular audits of food preparation, handling, storage, and serving processes to identify areas for improvement.
- Facilitate Joint Health and Safety programs and meetings in each location to ensure a culture of safety.
- Review and maintain food and alcohol safety-related certifications, including Safe Food Handlers, Smart Serve, and HACCP plans.
- Conduct regular in-person visits to stores to conduct food safety audits and provide follow-up support to local store department managers.
- Issue formal audit reports to stores and conduct timely follow-ups with local store department managers.
- Provide training and development support to staff, including Health and Food Safety training during New Hire Orientation.
- Assist in the development and implementation of effective food safety and work safety programs to meet strategic goals and regulations.
- Partner with production employees to troubleshoot and solve food safety issues and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure employee areas meet all health and food safety requirements.
- Coordinate pest control scheduling.
- Adhere to all company and department procedures, policies, expectations, and quality standards.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree in Management, Nutrition, Health and Safety, or a related field preferred.
- 4+ years of food safety management experience.
- Restaurant or food retail experience.
- Knowledge of OHSA and local DOH regulations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
- Outstanding analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, motivation, and team-building skills.
- Ability to collaborate with store departments to accomplish food safety objectives.
