Position Overview

The Operations Supervisor is tasked with overseeing the daily functions of their designated production team, ensuring that all operations are conducted efficiently and safely. This role involves coordinating daily assignments, providing necessary training and support to maintain team performance, addressing production and safety challenges, and ensuring that quality standards and targets are consistently achieved. The Operations Supervisor will also focus on team development through individual and group training, enhancing crew skills to meet high performance benchmarks while promoting a culture of safety.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Oversee a team of production operators, ensuring daily tasks are completed efficiently and targets are achieved.
  2. Operate control systems and engage in daily operational and maintenance tasks as required.
  3. Conduct daily team meetings to communicate targets and responsibilities, review past performance, and provide necessary training.
  4. Participate in production planning to optimize terminal throughput and availability through effective scheduling.
  5. Ensure all team members are informed of and adhere to operational procedures and quality standards.
  6. Review and authorize work permits for completion.
  7. Supervise start-up and shutdown procedures, including resource management and planning.
  8. Collaborate with maintenance contractors to ensure timely scheduling and completion of both planned and unplanned maintenance activities.
  9. Assist in the creation and updating of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and emergency response plans; engage in emergency preparedness activities as required.
  10. Support the skill and personal development of team members by providing training on products, processes, and SOPs, while identifying areas for improvement.
  11. Ensure compliance with training requirements within the team to promote effective time utilization and growth.
  12. Promote and ensure adherence to housekeeping standards and oversee cleanliness in production areas.
  13. Participate in incident reviews and complete necessary reporting and action follow-ups.
  14. Lead safety discussions during each shift, gather operator feedback, and coordinate with Environmental Health and Safety Services (EHSS) to enhance safety measures.
  15. Conduct periodic performance evaluations for the assigned team.
  16. Be available to work on weekends and fill in for team members as needed.

Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills
  1. Strong mechanical and instrumentation expertise.
  2. Proficient in troubleshooting and diagnostic processes.
  3. Able to follow instructions effectively, whether written, oral, or visual, and manage problems involving multiple variables in standardized situations.
  4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, adaptable to various audiences, and capable of presenting information effectively in small group settings.
  5. Strong interpersonal skills with developing supervisory and leadership capabilities.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and a strong focus on safety.
  7. Intermediate proficiency in computer applications (Excel, MS Word, Outlook, etc.).
  8. Possession of a valid driver's license is required.
  9. Ability to read, write, and speak English is essential.

Education and Experience Requirements
  1. A Bachelor's degree, diploma, or certificate in process plant operations is preferred.
  2. A high school diploma or adult education diploma (AED) along with 3-5 years of relevant experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Experience Requirements
  1. 2-3 years of production experience related to Cyanco.
  2. Successful completion of safety training and any other training deemed necessary by Cyanco.
Physical Requirements

  1. Ability to wear a respirator and other personal protective equipment (PPE).
  2. Capability to work outdoors for extended periods and in various weather conditions.
  3. Regularly required to sit, use hands for manipulation, reach with arms, and communicate verbally.
  4. Regular use of technology tools including computers and mobile devices is necessary.
  5. Must be able to stand, walk, and bend; frequently ascend and descend stairs.
  6. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  7. Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  8. Ability to drive at night is required.
