About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Advisor to join our Regulatory Compliance team at National Bank. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring our organization's compliance with regulatory requirements and laws.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and update our regulatory obligations and controls library, as well as our compliance guide.
  • Develop and revise policies, procedures, and communications for the Compliance Department, and participate in the creation of various reports.
  • Contribute to the development of training programs related to regulatory changes and existing rules and policies.
  • Perform compliance and monitoring functions related to portfolio management for our American clientele.
  • Assist business lines in interpreting and implementing regulatory requirements and business projects.
  • Capture and analyze new bills and regulations to inform stakeholders of upcoming changes and support their implementation.
  • Participate in Wealth Management and pan-bank legislative and regulatory watch committees.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve our goals.
Requirements
  • Legal technique or bachelor's degree in law, with 4 to 6 years of experience in the regulatory field related to the securities sector.
  • Autonomy, initiative, and a strong desire to learn.
  • Strong analytical and writing skills.
  • Ability to work in a team, communicate effectively, and pay attention to detail.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in French and English, with the ability to write and communicate orally and in writing in both languages.
  • Canadian Securities Course (CSC) and Conduct and Practices Handbook Course (CPH) or equivalent.
