The Opportunity

Wajax is seeking a skilled Electric Motor Systems Technician to join our team. As a key member of our mechanical team, you will be responsible for winding, assembling, and installing various types of coils. You will also perform in-shop and field mechanical repairs and electrical testing, ensuring the highest level of quality and safety.

The Role

  • Inspect and test electro-mechanical equipment for damage and electrical malfunctions.
  • Illustrate and document data specific to unit's electro-magnetic characteristics, operating conditions, existing damage, or intended serviceability.
  • Prepare reusable parts for rewinding and inspect renewed parts for hidden damage or unusual conditions.
  • Rewind various kinds of electro-mechanical equipment, including single-phase, three-phase, dc fields, armatures, wound rotors, and transformers.
  • Operate specialized repair and testing equipment, including winding machines, test panels, surge testers, and various handheld power and non-power tools.
  • Participate in and adhere to Wajax's Health and Safety Management System Program and legislative requirements.

The Candidate

  • Registered EMST Apprentice or Journeyman Red Seal, Electric Motor Systems Trade Certification or equivalent industry experience.
  • 5+ years of experience as a EMST.
  • Weld or braze components, read electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams, and mentor junior workers.
  • Self-motivated, calm under pressure, and able to work troubleshoot in a semi-autonomous environment.
  • Solid communication skills, verbal and written, and ability to problem solve on site and under time constraints.
