Aviva Canada is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accounting Specialist to join our Corporate Accounting team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing journal entries and balance sheet accounts analysis within the accounting operation function.
Key Responsibilities:- Analyze intercompany transactions and balances to ensure elimination of intercompany accounts during consolidation.
- Support the intercompany recharge process and book intercompany recharges.
- Prepare journal entries for commission accruals, reversals, payments, and true-ups.
- Prepare monthly Balance Sheet accounts review package for Aviva Canada Inc., with detailed explanation and supporting documents.
- Run month-end control reports using PBCS (SmartView based tool).
- Assist on Corporate accounting month-end activities, including IBNR journals and late adjustments.
- Collaborate with the Manager, Corporate Accounting, on all tasks related to month-end close and balance reconciliations.
- Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA, or CMA) or equivalent education.
- 4-5 years of relevant experience in accounting and/or reporting, with working experience with any ERP general ledger system.
- Knowledge of the P&C insurance industry is an asset.
- Knowledge of SmartView reporting tool and any reconciliation tool will be an asset.
- Good understanding of accounting operations and account reconciliations.
- Ability to improve processes while delivering under tight timelines.
- Sound technical accounting skills, including knowledge of IFRS17 accounting standard.
- Proven track record of managing multiple functions and tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
