Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Application Engineer to join our team at Ansys. As a key member of our Customer Excellence team, you will partner with our customers to engineer innovative solutions, solve real-world engineering problems, and deploy Ansys software in their design workflows.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead in coordinating and executing all technical activities throughout the sales opportunity lifecycle, including technical discovery, product presentations, demonstrations, and evaluations.
  • Interact with customers to understand their product design needs and engineering design workflows, and analyze how to address their requirements using Ansys products and platform.
  • Assist in creating differentiating simulation solutions using the Ansys platform and products, and deploy the solutions within customers' design workflows.
  • Develop competence as a subject matter expert and industry expert in one or more relevant disciplines within Ansys' business.
  • Collaborate with the Ansys product development teams to translate customer requirements into exciting new product features, and test new releases of Ansys products on industrial problems.
  • Support Ansys field and digital marketing, author conference presentations, and contribute to consulting services and training classes.

Requirements:

  • Required education: MS in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Required minimum years of professional experience in an engineering software environment: BS+5, MS+3, or PhD+.
  • Education and/or industrial experience related to fluid mechanics and computational fluid dynamics with experience in thermodynamics.
  • Demonstrated use of relevant Ansys software or knowledge of other commercial CAE, CAD, EDA, PLM software packages.
  • Experience with or specialization in the Electronics Industry segment.
  • Subject matter expert in one or more relevant disciplines within Ansys' business and is/will be sought out for advice by other Ansys engineers.
  • Basic Python programming experience.
  • Logical problem-solving, strong interpersonal and communication skills, fluent in writing and speaking English.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, possesses a sense of urgency.
  • Projects a professional image and demonstrates business acumen, driven to succeed.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of time.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred education and years of professional experience in an engineering software environment: BS+8, MS+6, or PhD+3.
  • 2 years of experience in application engineering, customer support, or consulting services type customer-facing roles using engineering software.
  • Experience with Ansys Fluent/Ansys Icepak/Ansys Mechanical is a plus.
  • Experience with application of CFD simulation for package, board, system-level modeling is a plus.
  • Experience with multiphysics (e.g., Electro-Thermal, Thermo-Mechanical) aspects of electronics design is a plus.
  • Experience/strength in Python programming.
  • Ability to interact effectively with senior business managers and C-level executives.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of time.
