Job Overview

In today's rapidly evolving energy landscape, the Engineer will be instrumental in advancing clean energy initiatives associated with hydroelectric power generation. Our Protection and Control (P&C) team is eager to welcome individuals who can contribute to engineering efforts across various multidisciplinary projects, including the modernization of turbine-generator assemblies, electrical and mechanical support services, and automation within Hydro-Québec facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop Control and Protection engineering for various systems and equipment:
    1. Control, measurement, monitoring, and protection systems for turbine-generator units;
    2. Instrumentation for gensets: analog instrumentation cabinets or digital systems;
    3. Computerized control networks for power plants;
    4. Interface with speed controllers, pump units, and static excitation systems;
    5. Remote operation of discharge valves and water intakes;
    6. Management of mechanical auxiliary systems (air, water, oil).
  2. Design electrical systems for control and protection, including:
    1. Single-line and three-line AC diagrams, protection, and control schematics;
    2. Wiring diagrams, device connection layouts, assembly drawings, material lists, and cable lists.
  3. Create DC power system designs, including:
    1. Single-line diagrams;
    2. Calculations for battery capacity;
    3. Connection diagrams for chargers, batteries, inverters, etc.
  4. Draft specifications for equipment manufacturing and on-site installation.
  5. Collaborate with engineers and technicians to execute technical tasks.
  6. Engage in project coordination meetings and design evaluations.
  7. Coordinate efforts with other engineering disciplines involved in projects, such as electrical, structural, civil, auxiliary mechanical, heavy mechanical, building, and architectural engineering.
  8. Participate in site assessments and potentially provide on-site support and commissioning services.
Required Qualifications
  • University Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Membership in the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
  • Over seven (7) years of relevant professional experience
  • Proficient knowledge of electrical distribution, control, and protection systems
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Fluent in spoken and written French
  • Proficient in written and spoken English in a professional context for national project communications
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, and focused on project outcomes
