Job Title: Specialist, Intervenor for the Deafblind Community

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Specialist, Intervenor to join our team at CNIB Deafblind Community Services. As a Specialist, Intervenor, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals who are Deafblind to maximize their independence and engagement with the world around them.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-on-one support and guidance to individuals who are Deafblind in their homes and communities.
  • Facilitate access to information and facilitate communication between individuals and their environment.
  • Offer sighted guide and environmental information to support individuals in navigating their surroundings.
  • Work collaboratively with individuals to determine their level of support and empower them to actively participate in their communities.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of theories and principles of intervention, as well as Deafblindness, Deaf/Deafblind culture, and common associated health-related concerns.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Self-motivated and flexible, with the ability to multi-task and take initiative.
  • Diploma or degree in the human services field or related experience, with a willingness to learn and practice alternate formats of communication.
