Job Title: Mechanical Technologist, Engine Test Facility Operations

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Technologist to join our team at the National Research Council Canada. As a Mechanical Technologist, you will play a critical role in supporting the operation of our Engine Test Facility, ensuring the safe and efficient testing of gas turbines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate and maintain test equipment and facilities, including data acquisition and control systems.
  • Work with project managers and designers to prepare and execute tests, including equipment selection and modification.
  • Perform fabrication of test apparatus and experimental rigs.
  • Troubleshoot test facilities and equipment.
  • Plan and conduct routine maintenance and repair.
  • Specify and complete purchases.
Requirements:
  • College diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Aircraft Technology or related field.
  • Significant experience with safe operation and maintenance of facilities and equipment in a test facility, laboratory or plant environment.
  • Experience with safe operation of hand and power tools and/or material handling equipment.
Assets:
  • Aviation or gas turbine operation experience.
  • Experience with CAD software packages.
  • Experience with machine shop tools and wood shop tools.
  • Experience working with and supervising outside contractors.
  • Experience in coordinating maintenance.
  • Experience with electric/pneumatic valves and electronics.
  • Experience assembling industrial equipment.
  • Experience working at heights and the use of related equipment.
  • Experience with fork lift.
  • Experience with overhead cranes.
