About the Role

Spectrum Health Care is seeking highly skilled and compassionate Personal Support Workers to join our team. As a Personal Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing personalized care and support to our patients, enabling them to maintain their independence and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Personal Care and Support: Provide assistance with activities of daily living, including bathing, toileting, skincare, and light meal preparation, in personal residences or facilities.
  • Assessment and Communication: Continuously assess, anticipate, identify, and respond to new and changing needs of patients, communicating available resources to patients and their families as needed.
  • Task Delegation: Perform delegated and/or assigned tasks under the supervision of a Home Support Supervisor.
  • Travel and Mobility: Staff are required to travel within assigned regions between patients' residences or facilities.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Education and Certifications: Hold one of the following qualifications: a valid Personal Support Worker Certificate from a Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities or the Ministry of Education approved program, or be an RN/RPN Student with a minimum successful completion of year one of the program, or be an Internationally licensed Nurse, Midwife, or Physician.
  • Driver's License and Vehicle: Possess a G2/G License with access to a vehicle.
  • Physical Abilities: Demonstrate the physical ability to meet the demands of the job, including standing, bending, walking, crouching, kneeling, and reaching freely for extended periods, lifting 23 kg independently, and assisting clients with standing, walking, sitting, and repositioning in bed.
  • Communication Skills: Possess demonstrated ability to provide exceptional personal care and customer service, with proficient verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Certifications and Checks: Hold valid Standard First Aid and Level C CPR certifications, a valid Vulnerable Sector Criminal Check, and an updated immunization record including a TB Test within the last 6 months.
