We are seeking a highly skilled Planning and Design Technologist 2 to join our team at FortisBC. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in coordinating projects, processing jobs, and ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of our services.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate projects, including defining customer requirements, creating and maintaining customer data, and ensuring all service product requirements are collected.
- Process jobs, including reviewing foreign utility data, drafting work procedures, and confirming and updating pipe sizing on drawings.
- Ensure completion of jobs and maintain customer relations, including building relationships with customers and responding to inquiries.
- Respond to operational and maintenance issues, including overbuilds, metering consolidations, and corrosion maintenance.
- Provide direction to Planning and Design Technicians and Technologist 1's within the department.
- Minimum post-secondary educational requirement - completion of a post-secondary Technology Diploma in an appropriate discipline.
- Four (4) years directly related relevant work experience (a minimum of two (2) years typically gained as a Planning and Design Technologist 1).
- Demonstrated strong organizational skills, including the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work under pressure.
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills, including telephone call handling skills and the ability to respond to difficult or demanding situations.
- Demonstrated courteous, professional manner in dealing with internal and external contacts and customers.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems of a technical nature.
- Demonstrated sound working knowledge of various specialized software applications required to support operations activities.
- Demonstrated knowledge of natural gas utilization and construction practices.
- Demonstrated superior customer service and product promotion skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently.
- Demonstrated sound analytical and decision-making skills.
- Capable of keyboarding at an intermediate level.
- Valid British Columbia Drivers license.
- Certified at the technologist level by the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia (ASTTBC) is an added asset.
- This position has restricted holiday availability based on operational requirements for certain months of the year.
- This position may involve working shift work or late coverage depending on customer and operational requirements.
