Overview: The Telecommunications Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the functionality and reliability of communication systems. This position involves a variety of tasks aimed at maintaining and enhancing telecommunications infrastructure.

  • Education Requirement: A secondary school graduation certificate or equivalent experience is essential.
  • Experience: Candidates should possess between 7 months to less than 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Work Environment: This role primarily involves outdoor work.
  • Work Setting: Technicians will operate in various locations as required.
  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Diagnose and identify equipment malfunctions, making necessary adjustments, replacements, or repairs to telecommunications apparatus.
    • Install, configure, remove, and maintain telephone systems, wiring, and related hardware.
    • Repair or substitute defective telephone equipment as needed.
    • Complete and maintain detailed test and service documentation.
    • Assess the nature, cause, and location of technical issues.
    • Utilize computerized testing systems to perform service evaluations on customer lines and equipment.
    • Climb and work at heights on poles, ladders, or other support structures safely.
    • Determine and assign work tasks effectively.
    • Install cable modems and associated software to facilitate Internet connectivity.
    • Repair or replace faulty cables, power supplies, and amplifiers as necessary.
    • Establish local area networks and Internet connections.
  • Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in Internet technologies is required.
  • Employment Type: This is a permanent position.
  • Language Proficiency: English is the primary language of communication.
  • Working Hours: The position requires a commitment of 35 to 40 hours per week.
