Job Title: Aquatic Invasive Species Watercraft Inspector

Manitoba Government is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Aquatic Invasive Species Watercraft Inspector. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in enforcing Manitoba's Aquatic Invasive Species Regulation and promoting environmental stewardship practices throughout the province.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspect and decontaminate watercraft and water-related equipment to prevent the introduction and spread of aquatic invasive species.
  • Communicate with and educate the public about the Province's Aquatic Invasive Species Program and promote stewardship practices.
  • Travel throughout Manitoba for extended periods, working evenings and weekends, including statutory holidays, and outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Coordinate site plans and communicate with landowners and provincial staff.
Requirements:
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid full stage Manitoba class 5 driver's licence.
  • Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position, including bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 22 kgs (50 lbs).
  • Must be able to work outdoors for extended periods in various weather conditions.
  • Must be willing and able to work weekends, statutory holidays, and overtime as required.
Qualifications:
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Experience working with the public, stakeholders, and interest groups.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
  • Education, experience, and/or training related to environmental issues.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience driving a 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton truck.
  • Experience loading and hauling trailers.
