About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Engineer to join our Systems Engineering team at T-Net British Columbia. As a key member of our engineering organization, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining our MySQL databases and related systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement scalable and reliable database infrastructure to support our growing business needs.
  • Investigate and resolve performance issues with our MySQL databases to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Collaborate with development teams to improve and optimize database usage, and implement automation and processes to power reliability of our datastores.
  • Develop and maintain technical expertise in building and configuring MySQL database servers, and share knowledge with the rest of the SRE team.
  • Develop and implement roadmaps to guide the future of our datastores infrastructure in terms of scale and data security.
Requirements
  • Hands-on technical expertise with building and configuring MySQL database servers.
  • Experience investigating and solving performance problems with MySQL databases.
  • Experience using migrations tools, pt-online-schema-change or gh-ost.
  • Experience developing with Ruby or GoLang.
  • Strong understanding of database design principles and best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
