Assistant Manager Job Description

As a key member of the Subway Team, the Assistant Manager plays a vital role in ensuring the success of our restaurants. This dynamic role requires a strong leader who can motivate and guide a team of 4-12 staff members to deliver exceptional customer experiences and achieve business objectives.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Customer Experience: Provide an outstanding guest experience by ensuring that every customer interaction is positive and memorable.
  • Food Preparation and Service: Ensure that great food is prepared and served to our customers, meeting our high standards of quality and presentation.
  • Restaurant Maintenance: Maintain a clean, functional, and beautiful restaurant environment, adhering to health and safety standards.
  • Inventory Management: Control inventory levels, manage stock, and optimize ordering to minimize waste and maximize efficiency.
  • Staff Scheduling and Supervision: Schedule and supervise staff, providing guidance and support to ensure that they are equipped to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Restaurant Safety and Security: Maintain standards of restaurant safety and security, ensuring a secure environment for customers and staff.
  • Team Player: Demonstrate a strong team player attitude, working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve business objectives.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Staff Management: Manage a staff of 4-12, including assigning and evaluating work, providing feedback, and coaching for improvement.
  • Event Planning: Assist in planning special events and promotions, coordinating training and resources to ensure their success.
  • Inventory and Ordering: Assist with product ordering and inventory management as needed, ensuring that stock levels are optimized and waste is minimized.

Prerequisites: High school diploma or equivalent, experience in a restaurant operation, preferably with supervisory experience.

Essential Functions: Excellent communication skills, ability to deal with all levels of team members, computer knowledge desirable.

Physical Demands: Ability to work any area of the restaurant as needed, operate computerized Point of Sale system/cash register, lift 10 pounds frequently and up to 30 pounds occasionally.
