Resource Specialist, Utility Arborist

Job Summary:

The Resource Specialist, Utility Arborist will research, develop, and implement specialized programs and functions for SaskPower. This role may involve conducting field studies and investigations to mitigate environmental impacts on the corporation's operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with government agencies, communities, and interest groups to develop programs mitigating environmental impacts
  • Plan and conduct program management, technical, and environmental impact assessments
  • Provide expert advice and assistance to SaskPower
  • Utilize professional judgment to make informed decisions regarding mitigation options and preventative measures
  • Identify, research, and monitor emerging issues impacting SaskPower's operations
  • Represent SaskPower on working groups, interest groups, and public forums
  • Promote and comply with corporate, provincial, and federal regulations
  • Travel province-wide as required

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Forestry, Forestry Resource Technology Diploma, or equivalent
  • Certified Utility Arborist (CUA) or Certified Utility Tree Trimmer (UTT), or equivalent
  • Ability to obtain the International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist Utility Specialist (ISAUS)
  • Five (5) years of related utility experience
  • Knowledge of related provincial and federal acts, regulations, and legislations
  • Demonstrated research, analysis, and presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated organizational, coordination, and project management skills
  • Ability to take initiatives and lead and motivate people
  • Ability to forecast and predict budget requirements
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license, as required
