SECURITY & EMERGENCY PROGRAM ADVISOR (2 POSITIONS):

($85,649 - $100,764 Annually)

Role Summary

Reporting to the Director of Security and Emergency Services, the Security and Emergency Program Advisor is tasked with recommending strategies, procedures, and programs related to the safety, security, and emergency preparedness of staff, housing developments, and tenants, facilitating their implementation across the province. Responsibilities include conducting safety and security audits, leading investigations, and coordinating emergency responses. The incumbent also assists in providing security services, managing access control for all building portfolios, completing threat and risk assessments, coordinating feasibility studies, and consulting on safety and security initiatives. Furthermore, the position involves advising on the development of Business Continuity Plans for BC Housing offices and Non-Profit Housing partners.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in risk management, criminology, security, operations management, emergency management, business continuity management, or a related field.
  • Significant experience in coordinating the implementation of business continuity, fire safety, security, disaster response, or recovery programs.
  • Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience acceptable to the Employer.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Extensive knowledge of programs, practices, and processes related to security, fire safety, and emergency preparedness.
  • Strong understanding of safety, security, and emergency preparedness requirements for housing developments.
  • Proficient in program development, analysis, and evaluation.
  • Solid knowledge of building technology and applicable Federal, Provincial, and Municipal codes.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and project coordination skills.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, conflict resolution, relationship management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective public speaking and presentation abilities.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Capability to coordinate program activities, analyze and resolve issues, and make sound decisions, especially in emergency situations.
  • Aptitude for establishing and maintaining constructive working relationships with staff, housing providers, and government agencies.
  • Ability to take ownership of tasks and drive them to completion.
  • Capacity to work under pressure during stressful and emergency situations while meeting deadlines and adapting to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively in various team settings and independently.
  • Willingness to work extended hours during emergencies.
  • Ability to travel throughout the province with limited notice.
  • Valid BC Driver's Licence.
  • A Criminal Record Check is required.
