About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team at Southwood Trucking Ltd. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our fleet of heavy equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fluid Maintenance: Add or replace hydraulic and transmission fluids to ensure smooth operation of our equipment.
  • Assist Mechanics: Provide support to our experienced mechanics and perform other duties as directed to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Engine Maintenance: Change engine oil and lubricate running gears or moving parts of our heavy equipment to prevent wear and tear.
  • Greasing and Lubrication: Grease booms, pulleys, buckets, and other components of our heavy equipment to ensure proper function.
  • Filter Replacement: Replace oil, air, and fuel filters on motor vehicles, trucks, and heavy equipment to maintain optimal performance.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • Attention to Detail: Maintain a high level of attention to detail to ensure accurate and efficient work.
  • Physical Demands: Be physically capable of standing for extended periods, bending, crouching, and kneeling to perform tasks.
  • Fast-Paced Environment: Work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Manual Dexterity: Possess manual dexterity to perform tasks that require hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.
Weight Handling and Personal Suitability
  • Weight Handling: Be able to lift and handle equipment weighing up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
  • Personal Suitability: Demonstrate flexibility, reliability, and a team player attitude to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Training and Experience: Willingness to train and learn new skills, with a focus on developing expertise in heavy equipment maintenance.
  • Language and Work Schedule: Fluency in English and a 40-hour workweek.
