About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Drywall Installer to join our team at Square Mile Development Inc. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for installing drywall sheets, applying successive coats of compound, and ensuring a smooth finish.

Key Responsibilities
  • Measure, cut, and install drywall sheets to meet project specifications
  • Apply coats of compound and sand seams and joints to achieve a smooth finish
  • Clean and prepare surfaces for installation
  • Cut and install metal corner beads to protect exterior corners
  • Fabricate and install suspended metal ceiling grids and place in panels to form acoustical and coffered ceilings
  • Fill joints, nail indentations, holes, and cracks with joint compound using a trowel and broad knife
  • Position and secure sheets to metal or wooden studs or joists
  • Smooth out excess compound and allow coat to dry
  • Tape over joints using a taping machine and embed tape in compound
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • Work in a fast-paced construction environment with frequent bending, crouching, and kneeling
  • Handle heavy loads and work in physically demanding conditions
Support for Newcomers and Refugees
  • Participate in a government or community program that supports newcomers and refugees
  • Assist with immediate settlement needs, such as housing, transportation, and childcare
  • Support social and labor market integration through language training, skills training, and mentorship programs

We offer a permanent work term with 40 hours of work per week and a welcoming work environment that values diversity and cross-cultural understanding.
