Job Summary

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking an Occupational Therapist 2 to join the Rehabilitation Services team at Squamish Hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide occupational therapy services to patients to achieve optimal health outcomes.
  • Assess patient's occupational performance, plan and implement goal-directed services, and evaluate their effectiveness.
  • Prepare and maintain records, participate in interdisciplinary research, and demonstrate safe and effective resource utilization.
  • Contribute to the organization and delivery of occupational services by participating in program quality assurance initiatives, meetings, research, and education.
Qualifications
  • Current full registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia (COTBC).
  • Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT).
  • Recent related acute care experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Basic knowledge of evidence-based clinical practice related to designated clinical area.
  • Basic knowledge of occupational therapy standardized tests and measures.
  • Broad knowledge of occupational therapy theory and practice within a patient and family-centered model of care.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally safe care in a variety of settings with diverse populations.
  • Basic knowledge of research process and methodology.
  • Broad knowledge of other healthcare disciplines and their role in patient care.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as an effective team member.
  • Demonstrated ability to adjust to unexpected events, problem-solve, set priorities, and deal with conflict.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and empower patients to assume control over their health.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and patients both one-on-one and in groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others in a complex healthcare environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize when referral to another healthcare professional is required.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Skill in the use of equipment and in the techniques appropriate to occupational therapy treatment.
  • Basic computer literacy.
