Position Overview

As a Child Development Specialist at Market Lane Early Learning Centre, you will play a crucial role in fostering the growth and development of young children. Your expertise will contribute to creating a nurturing and stimulating environment that promotes learning and creativity.

Qualifications
  • Education: Completion of a college, CEGEP, or equivalent non-university certificate or diploma program lasting 1 to 2 years.
  • Experience: A minimum of 1 year but less than 2 years in a similar role.
Work Environment

The work environment is air-conditioned, providing a comfortable setting for both staff and children.

Responsibilities
  • Support colleagues with housekeeping and meal preparation tasks.
  • Care for infants and toddlers, including bathing, diapering, and feeding.
  • Design and implement childcare programs that enhance children's physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.
  • Assist lead educators in executing programs aimed at child development.
  • Maintain accurate records as required by supervisors.
  • Encourage creative expression through various mediums such as art, music, and physical activities.
  • Engage children with storytelling, songs, and craft preparation.
  • Guide children in developing healthy habits related to eating, dressing, and toileting.
  • Prepare snacks and organize spaces for meal and rest periods.
  • Participate in staff meetings to discuss children's progress and any concerns.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy environment for all children.
Physical and Personal Requirements
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks and engage in physically demanding activities.
  • Comfortable with a combination of sitting, standing, and walking, as well as bending and kneeling.
  • Demonstrated punctuality, dependability, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication abilities and flexibility in approach.
  • Strong judgment, reliability, and a commitment to teamwork and ethical values.
Work Conditions

This position typically requires working between 37.5 to 44 hours per week in a permanent capacity.
