Position: Substance Use Counselor

In the role of Substance Use Counselor, you will collaborate with a dedicated team to elevate the well-being of adults grappling with substance use issues and housing instability. Your responsibilities will include building rapport with clients, formulating individualized service plans, and promoting healthier lifestyle choices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop tailored service plans for clients
  • Encourage healthy living and strategies for preventing relapse
  • Support clients in sustaining their housing within the community
  • Deliver direct programming that incorporates harm reduction techniques and counseling
  • Foster collaborative relationships with other service organizations
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records of client interactions
  • Provide after-hours support on a rotational basis as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Nursing, or a related discipline
  • Certification in Addictions and a minimum of two years of relevant experience
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with social service systems
  • Proficient in counseling techniques and case management
  • CPR/First Aid certification and a valid driver’s license are preferred
