CB Canada is seeking a skilled Senior VM Backup Administrator to support our cloud engineering initiatives.
Role Overview
- Reporting to the Director of Cloud Engineering, you will be instrumental in the data center consolidation project, utilizing both virtual and physical machine migration strategies to transition systems to our new Private Cloud infrastructure, which incorporates various HCI solutions and advanced technologies.
- Collaborate with both technical and business experts on this complex project to ensure that migrated applications function effectively and align with business objectives.
- Be prepared for non-standard working hours for scheduled implementations or while providing rotational project support.
- Oversee and maintain backup and NAS solutions, assisting in troubleshooting and offering guidance.
- Deliver Level 3 support and manage vendor escalations for transitioned services.
- Assist in the creation of technical documentation, including configuration and operational procedures for service operations teams.
- Contribute to the planning and execution of implementation strategies.
Required Qualifications
- Recent experience as a VM Backup Administrator.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with backup solutions such as Cohesity, Dell EMC Data Domain, NetBackup, or Veeam.
- 3+ years of experience with storage technologies including NetApp NAS, Dell EMC, or Hyper-Converged Virtual SAN.
- 3+ years of experience with VMware vSphere Hypervisor architecture, deployment, and operational support.
- 3+ years of experience in administering Microsoft Windows Server 2012/16 or Red Hat Linux 7.x.
- 5+ years of experience with networking technologies and operational practices.
- Strong written, presentation, and verbal communication skills to effectively engage with technical peers and business stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for collaboration with external vendors.
- Ability to analyze complex issues and conduct thorough research to develop innovative solutions.
- Capability to work both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
- Strong time management and organizational skills to manage large-scale projects effectively.
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as computer science or computer engineering is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with VMware vRealize Suite and VMware Cloud Foundation.
- Experience with scripting languages such as VMware PowerCLI, PowerShell, or Python for backup automation.
