We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Health Specialist to join our team at Raytheon Technologies. As a key member of our Environmental Health and Safety department, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company policies.
  • Conduct routine inspections and audits to identify potential environmental hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain records related to environmental compliance, including waste management, air emissions, and water quality.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections of facilities and equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions, practices, and behaviors, and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees.
  • Support the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near misses to identify root causes and recommend preventive measures.
  • Prepare and submit required environmental and safety reports to regulatory agencies.
  • Stay up to date with changes in EHS regulations and standards to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Properly handle, store, and dispose of hazardous materials.
  • Support company sustainability initiatives by participating in environmental conservation and waste reduction programs.
  • Support Workplace Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB) claims, with a focus on early and safe return to work.

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years' work experience in an Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) related position within a manufacturing environment.
  • Professional EHS designation (e.g. EP, CRSP, AE, CET) is considered a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of processing and managing WSIB claims.
  • Previous involvement working with Ontario health and safety regulations.
  • Experience working with the Environmental Protection Act.
  • Effective verbal and written communicator at all levels in the organization.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, along with various other software functions.
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities and deadlines, as well as managing a large amount of information at one time.
  • Previous experience with employee wellness programs, health promotion activities, awareness campaigns, etc.
  • Ability to establish and foster continued employee trust enhancing the safety culture.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Highly effective communications skills.
  • Proven ability to solve technical problems and make sound decisions.
  • Highly motivated with a demonstrated positive attitude.
  • Willingness to learn and acquire knowledge/understanding through study, instruction or experience.
