Job Summary
The Friends of Kerry Wood Nature Centre is seeking a part-time dedicated and experienced Store Manager to oversee our retail operations. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the store, ensuring excellent customer service, and driving sales.
Duties & Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing promotional materials to enhance store visibility and drive sales
- Handling cash transactions and maintaining accurate records
- Managing inventory levels and placing orders as needed
- Providing exceptional customer service and resolving any issues or complaints
- Implementing sales strategies to meet or exceed sales goals
- Maintaining a clean and organized store environment
- Utilizing point-of-sale systems effectively for transactions and inventory management
- Conducting clerical and administrative tasks as required
- Collaborating with and reporting to the Friends of the Kerry Wood Nature Centre Board of Directors
- Experience working with volunteers and staff
- Assistance in fundraising efforts
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Proven experience in retail management
- Strong team management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Proficient in phone etiquette and customer service practices
- Ability to sell products effectively
- Familiarity with administrative tasks in a retail setting
- Strong prioritization, troubleshooting, and time management skills
- Physical ability to handle 40-50lb bags of bird seed
- Strong interest in nature and support for the Centre's purpose
- Criminal Record Check required upon hiring
Job Details
This is a part-time position with 15-20 hours of work per week. The hourly rate is $22.00. Benefits include dental care, extended health care, and store discount.
Education and Experience
Secondary School diploma is preferred. One year of experience in Microsoft Office and retail management is also preferred.
Licence/Certification
A driving licence is preferred.
Work Location
This is an in-person role.
