The Senior Project Manager is a vital component of TESC Contracting Company Ltd.'s operations, effectively steering significant projects and leading project teams. As a leader within TESC, the Senior Project Manager champions a culture of excellence, teamwork, and ongoing enhancement by embodying TESC's core attributes of expertise, service orientation, collaboration, quality output, and effective communication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Directs multi-disciplinary teams and oversees various projects.
- Ensures compliance with all established TESC policies and procedures throughout project execution.
- As a subject matter expert, engages in pre-construction activities, including contract reviews, scope determination, planning, and estimating prior to project initiation.
- Participates in estimating turnover meetings and coordinates project kick-off meetings with the project team, including project coordinators, health and safety, quality, and procurement.
- Reviews the Foreman's labor plan against the estimated budget and formulates the final budget for labor, materials, and equipment.
- Ensures projects are adequately resourced by collaborating with internal departments and trade unions.
- Works alongside the Planner/Scheduler to develop project Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), maintain schedules, and provide stakeholders with necessary progress updates.
- Accountable for the overall success of projects, encompassing health and safety, quality, costs, and timelines.
- Prepares monthly financial forecasts and Work In Progress (WIP) reports, leading cost review meetings.
- Attends client and construction meetings as necessary, disseminating information to the project team, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Identifies, monitors, and reports potential issues and risks related to project objectives, milestones, and performance, proposing solutions to mitigate them.
- Recognizes scope changes and initiates the change management process promptly, keeping clients and senior management informed of all implications.
- Encourages a culture of continuous improvement in safety performance and quality by exceeding minimum legislative requirements, identifying enhancement opportunities, and providing recommendations to the management team.
- Ensures compliance with incident management investigation policies and procedures across all projects, maintaining quality control throughout project activities.
- Facilitates the complete closure of projects by fulfilling all client requirements, securing final payments, and submitting Lessons Learned documentation as necessary.
- Offers leadership, mentorship, and coaching to team members, Project Coordinators, and Project Managers, while providing trade-specific expertise to colleagues across the organization.
- Evaluates team performance, provides constructive feedback, and participates in development plans as part of TESC's Performance Management Program.
Job Specifications:
- 20 years of experience in the construction industry, preferably within the industrial sector.
- 15 years of experience in a project management or leadership capacity within the construction industry.
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in construction management, project management, engineering, or a comparable combination of education and field experience.
- Strong financial acumen with the ability to understand construction costs and budget frameworks.
- A proven track record of building and managing effective teams, motivating individuals, and maintaining positive relationships with clients and subcontractors.
- Exceptional management skills, with the ability to influence, engage, and delegate effectively.
- Proficient in all phases of the construction management process, including pre-construction, construction, and project closeout, with the capability to execute complex or specialized projects.
- Ability to prioritize competing issues, project demands, business needs, and client relations, making decisions at an executive management level.
- Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving abilities, including negotiation, conflict resolution, and crisis management.
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and familiarity with scheduling software such as MS Project or Primavera P6.
- Valid driver's license with the ability to travel as needed (with a clean driving record).
- Willingness to work extended and irregular hours during shutdowns and construction projects.
